Leyland was fantastic and we all had a great time during his visit. He worked with groups from years 1 to 6. The activities were well suited and the children really engaged with them. When Leyland told his story, all the children were fully engrossed. Leyland left a great impression and the children are still talking about his visit. I felt that Leyland Peree was fantastic on his delivery to the children during our workshop and gave the children key insight into constructing stories and novels. His book The Magic Custard Factory was also incredibly witty and a future purchase to use with my own children.

Great attitude and a personality that really made the children enthused. The class activity using the SOCK in a box cards was extremely useful for the children to express their imaginations independently. Thank you for coming in!

The visit to Coombe Dean was very successful, with all 20 students engaged and keen throughout the course of the day. Each group really enjoyed thinking of creative ideas for their story and were able to present fantastic work. The visit was very beneficial, and certainly something we can develop further within classes/small groups in school.

I felt that you were very enthusiastic and thorough during the day and engaged well with the students. Giving the students a signed book of their choice was lovely and this is something they were really happy about - a brilliant way to end a brilliant day.

The whole school had a wonderful time during Leyland's visit. His workshops were well planned and provided an excellent inspirational starting point for the children's own work. We all really enjoyed his books and hope to publish our own work in the near future. "It was an absolute delight to have Leyland Perree visit our school to speak to Year 1 and Year 2 pupils today. It was a brilliant experience for the children to meet an author in person and they asked him lots of great questions about his books 'The Great Reef Race' and 'Which Witch is Which'. Leyland spoke about the process of writing a book in a very accessible way so that children could understand. The children were laughing a lot throughout the talk as Leyland told funny jokes. "Leyland turned up at school early and was well prepared. He carried out workshops with children from reception age all the way up to year 6. His activities were well planned and suitable to the age group. The children had a fantastic time and are still talking about it two weeks later!
Leyland then went away and collated all of the children's work into a story book. The children were so excited to receive this the following week.

"Leyland Perree visited Lady Modifords C of E Primary School during an evening
story time session to celebrate World Book Day.  The excited children came back
to school in their pyjamas with the promise of hot chocolate and cookies at the
end of story time. They loved meeting the author that they had been studying
that week. Leyland brought the books to life as he read 'Which Witch is Which?',
'The Great Reef Race' and 'The Unpleasant Tale of the Man-Eating Christmas Pudding'. 
Leyland's rhyming books have a wide appeal capturing the children's imagination
with humour and brilliant pictures. We can highly recommend an author visit.
